Company Story

Scott Peterson never imagined his hobby of restoring old cars in his driveway would one day turn into a thriving community based business. When Scott ran out of room at his house for his car restoration hobby he decided to rent a small space  in downtown Mapleton. While Scott was there working on his own cars people started stopping by and asking for help with their vehicles, and six months later in June of 1983 Scott’s Body Shop was founded. Six weeks later, Tom VanRossum joined Scott as his first team member and has been with the business ever since.

 

Meet Our Team

 

 

Scott M. Peterson is the owner , CEO, and overall shop manager. He started Scott’s Body Shop of Mapleton, Inc 25+ years ago and has worn many hats in the day-to-day operations.

 

 

 

 

Lynn Peterson is our office coordinator and handles the accounts payable, accounts receivable, marketing, payroll, budgeting and phone calls –  all a part of the daily business operations.

 

 

 

 

Reed Allis is our collision shop estimator and manager, parts manager, and quality control manager. He works with most of our collision customers and their insurance companies.

 

 

 

 

Bill VanDeer is our mechanical service writer. He does scheduling and billing of our mechanical jobs and works  closely with customers. Bill keeps our mechanics busy.

 

 

 

 

Tom VanRossum has been our metal and body repair technician since Scott opened for business. Tom has been working with Scott for 25+ years.

 

 

 

 

Aaron Olseth has been our head PPG certified refinish technician since the fall of 2006. He operates the Spraybake paint booth and the PPG paint mixing system.

 

 

 

 

Travis Peterson is Scott’s son. He has worked around the shop all of his life but joined us fulltime in December of 2006 after he received his Associates Degree in Automotive Technologies from the Universal Technical Institute in Arizona. Travis does the majority of the mechanical work.

 

 

 

Gerald Conrad does all of our glass installation, Astrostart remotes and is a mechanic as well.

 

 

Dan Germo and Alex are part-time help doing detail and utility work.

 

Scott’s Body Shop’s team has training and certifications fromI-Car, ASE, and PPG. Scott believes that continuous training provides the best quality repairs and services for our customers.
